We arrived at the hall on Friday to find that Chris Woods, the Hall Manager had everything well organised, with Malcolm Beasley & Chris Titterington well on the way to completion of the setting up of the pens and the central Best In Show Stage area. There were plenty of friends to help, so setting up was finished very early. Friday night, was also a great start to the show as it became apparent that all the judges we expected, arrived safely. Saturday morning 6am, and prospects were looking very good, the sunshine we ordered for everyone had already arrived. On arrival at the show venue, Sue Luvaglia, ably assisted by Colin Stone & David Denny, had everything in hand ready for the exhibitors arrival. The Duty Vet was Jane Alexander. Vetting in went very smoothly, there did not seem to be any large queues, in fact everything seemed to be quite straightforward. The day got off to a good start and this is where the table workers really came into their own, being as efficient as they were, they continued to run the table smoothly for the entire day, Sue Kirk the Table Manager would not have had it any other way! Joyce Simmonds experience was invaluable in the running of the queries table and her help was much appreciated, as was Vic Simmonds who was Show Treasurer on the day - thanks. The entrance and catalogue table were ably maintained by Mike Buckeridge and Robin Kempe. David Denny, was taxi driver and last minute steward for Joyce Green, cheers guys. Many thanks to Brian Gregory who relentlessly organised the best of variety judging and associated computer wizardry. There were many volunteers from the exhibitors to complete various tasks throughout the day, we are so grateful for your offers and assistance. Exhibitors seemed to be happy throughout the day, we were so pleased that you all were enjoying yourselves. The public were allowed to roam around the perimeter of the hall and continue shopping, which pleased the stallholders and the exhibitors. It is worthy of note that there were some lovely cats on show/exhibition, the quality of which was exceptional, and at the end of the day, all the exhibitors still took the best cat home! The entries were great, well up on last years entry, and totalling 520 cats. Photo's throughout the day were taken by Marc Henrie, Vince Hogan from Ourcats, together with Sean Farrell. We were very fortunate that our Chairman, Grace Denny, was able and willing to judge the best in show. She made it a "big occasion" with commentary provided by John Hansson. Our thanks also to the show sponsors: Malcolm's Feline Penning & especially Chris Titterington for the drapes R&L Pet Products MPM Pet Products Royal Canin Hills & Purrsonal Touch Marc Henrie Rumba Burmese Sesuane Burmese It goes without saying, but our gratitude and many thanks to the exhibitors without whom the show would not have been possible, we do hope to see you next year.
